A thoughtful approach for a better experience

I have lived in Rye for 13 years, since my twins were 7 years old. The Rye Arts Center was an integral part of our lives and the shaping of my twins over these years. It is an incredible place with good, thoughtful people working and running it for the betterment of our community. They have worked tirelessly to make the experiences of families like mine special, to make living in Rye a special place. Like any organization, change is necessary to meet evolving needs and improve the experience of its community. This is what the Rye Arts Center is aiming to do with the property at 25 Milton.

My children participated in so many things at the Rye Arts Center – everything from ballet to maker’s space programs to performing arts programs. All of these were wonderful experiences, but very simply at this point they all need an upgrade. Over time, like all organizations, improvements are needed. The building and grounds at 51 Milton are small and do not allow for the full potential of the kind of experiences that can be realized with additional space and improved, thoughtfully designed rooms, spaces and grounds.

The Rye Arts Center is evolving, and I’m very excited to see how this evolution will make the experience for my family and all families in Rye that much better. This is one of the reasons why I volunteer at the Rye Arts Center on things like the Gallery Committee that brings amazing art to our community. This is one of the reasons I volunteer as a Board Member at the Rye Arts Center.

At the end of the day, we all want the same thing… a wonderful place to live and thrive with our families. I know that the Rye Arts Center will continue to contribute to this goal with the evolution of the property including 25 Milton, with a thoughtful approach, including community input. I’m excited to see what the Rye City Planning Commission recommends and what we ALL will be able to enjoy once the Rye Arts Center has evolved.
